Almost 30 years in the making, and standing 121-meters tall (271-meters above sea level) the statue of Lord Vishnu riding on the back of a Garuda bird with a 64-meter wing span at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park will be the world's largest bronze sculpture and the second tallest statue on the planet behind the Spring Temple Buddha in Henan, China which stands at a height of 153-meters.

According to Detik, Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya believes "GWK will strengthen Bali as the world's #1 destination" an accolade awarded to the island by TripAdvisor in 2017. Yahya went on to say GWK has also become the most popular honeymoon destination for Ctrip, the biggest online travel agent in China.

GWK Cultural Park is set in 60-hectares of an abandoned limestone quarry and boasts an amphitheater, dance performances, shops, restaurants, exhibition and conference facilities, accommodations and is a concert venue for over 7,000 people.

The statue is scheduled for completion in August this year, just over a month before the planned IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting in October. The GWK Park's Commercial Director, Arifin, stated that according to the planned itinerary, a dinner would be held for all delegates at GWK's Festival Park according to The Jakarta Post.
