In a recent interview in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs, Luhut Panjaitan told local news wires that facilities, supporting infrastructure, IT infrastructure, hotels and transportation for this year's IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting in Bali were 75% ready.

He also confirmed all preparations in Bali would be completed on time. These include a new tunnel and underpass at Ngurah Rai International Airport as well as a cruise ship terminal in Tanjung Benoa.

In addition, a number of emergency plans have also been set up to handle any natural disasters such as the eruption of Mount Agung, including evacuation procedures using the Navy.  Banyuwangi airport in East Java, for example, has received approximately IDR 82 billion to improve its runway and services.

Luhut also said infrastructure projects in a number of destinations earmarked for visits by participating members were also well underway.

Labuan Bajo, one of the 10 New Bali destinations and gateway to Flores, Komodo and Sumba, is also receiving upgrades, as it will be one of the selected destinations for meeting delegates to visit while in Bali.

"We are focusing on tourism, hotels, resorts, marinas and ports," said Luhut and that impacts basic infrastructure. Everything from roads, repairs to airports, water, waste management and electricity will be impacted.

A special committee has been created to coordinate all aspects of the event, which is chaired by the Luhut Pandjaitan with Finance Minister, Sri Mulyani and Bank Indonesia Governor, Agus Martowardojo as Vice Chairs.

Bali is expecting around 20,000 visitors with delegates from 189 countries including around 1,000 members of the world's press and 5,000 investors.
