Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace) has met with the Ministry of Tourism to discuss how best to welcome tourists back to the destination.
Indonesian tourism is expected to "return to normal" by next year, with officials releasing a strategy to gradually welcome back visitors in the second half of 2020.
Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati held a coordination meeting on the recovery of tourism at the Governor's Office in Denpasar earlier this month, where a timeline for reopening parts of the country was agreed upon.
The Ministry of Tourism has since confirmed a program which involves a "gaining confidence" period from June to October, to be followed by the gradual opening of tourism destinations in accordance with strict health protocols.
The program is being accompanied by a new CHS (Cleanliness, Health, Safety) strategy for tourist destinations.
This includes new guidelines for the cleanliness of attractions and entrances, checking the health of tourists and updated security for tourists and the Balinese people.
Bali was made a pilot project considering the province was the best in suppressing and overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic.
At present Bali is the best province in suppressing deaths from the virus, which is equal to 1.2 per cent, and a high cure rate.
Bali also has a reduced local transmission rate compared to other provinces in Indonesia.
