Agoda, has recognized Bali as the number one destination for Indonesian tourists in its most recent survey.
Bali has been crowned as the favourite tourist destination for Indonesian tourists in the mid-2018 version of Agoda according to recent reports from Suara and GuideKu, two popular Indonesian language newspapers.
Agoda is headquartered in Singapore but has its largest operational office in Bangkok. Since its founding in 2005 it has been known as an Asia-focused online travel agency but has representative offices in 53 locations in more than 30 countries.
In the 2017 Agoda survey, Tokyo took the top spot, followed by Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore, but this year its ranking has dropped to number three behind Bali and Bandung in West Java.
Bali did not even feature in the top five destinations in 2017, so being acknowledged as number one is a source of pride for the island's tourism industry according to Suara who cite event tours as an important contributing factor.
There are a number of popular annual events for both domestic and international visitors including The Bali Arts Festival, Bali Kite Festival, Makepung Traditional Buffalo Race and the Ubud Writers Festival.
